Auckland Occupational Medicine provides comprehensive assessments for employers and third parties to ensure worker health and fitness for work. We carry out a full array of medical assessments from pre-employment, workplace health monitoring and return to work assessments after absence for sickness or injury.
When employing personnel into physically challenging or safety critical roles it is important to ensure the health and safety of both staff and public. Medical assessments prior to employment reduce the risk exposure to employers when employing staff into such roles. At Auckland Occupational Medicine Ltd we carry out tailored physical examination and investigations which are based on the nature of work the potential worker will be exposed to. We may also arrange age appropriate investigations to ensure risk minimisation to employers.
Has work caused a physical or mental health condition. Literature has shown that although work is generally good for one’s physical and mental health sometimes work can lead to health related problems. A number of such conditions can develop simply through poor work habits, exposure to certain of physical or environmental factors or physically repetitive work over a period of time. ACC may cover the costs of investigation and management of such conditions if work has been a contributing factor.
For various reasons a review of a health or injury condition may be required to assist patients, or third parties in the management of such conditions. This will often require a review of previous investigations, medical notes and specialist reports. Issues relating to the ability to work with a certain health or injury condition may also require workplace assessments. At Auckland Occupational Medicine our Occupational Medicine Specialist has many years of experience with interpretation and reviewing of medical records and experience in work fitness assessments to enable sound clinical judgement and recommendations to be given on such cases.
